F1 Mini Bernedoodles Puppies in Iowa
F1 Miniature Bernedoodles are a cross between a Miniature Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog. This results in a puppy that is 1/2 Miniature Poodle and 1/2 Bernese Mountain Dog. This is a wonderful breed with the temperament of a Bernese Mountain Dog and the intelligence of a Poodle! They frequently have "goofy" personalities that bring lots of joy to their families! They are generally low to non-shedding. While we represent our dogs as low to non-shedding, we don't go as far as to guarantee a non-shedding dog. The nature of the cross doesn't allow perfect predictions, but the wavier or curlier the pup the less likely shedding is. So if shedding or allergies is your main concern we recommend choosing a pup whose hair coat coincides with your needs.
How big are Mini Bernedoodles?
You can expect that once fully mature, they will weigh about 30 to 40 lbs. and stand about 20 inches at the shoulder. Their size makes them the perfect addition to a family that wants a dog that can keep up with outdoor activities but is still cuddle up indoors.
Coat & Coloring of Bernedoodles
They come in a variety of colors, but we are focusing primarily on raising tri color and blue merle tri color pups, although other colors are occasionally in the mix. F1 miniatures hair coats can vary from wavy to curly.
What is the temperament of a miniature Bernedoodle?

Are Bernedoodles good with kids?
The F1 Mini Bernedoodle is a highly recommended family dog and is known for being great with children. They often inherit the affectionate and gentle nature of the Bernese Mountain Dog, making them loving companions. Their smaller size and very low-shedding coat also make them excellent indoor pets.
Training your miniature Bernadoodle
With the genetic intelligence of a poodle, these dogs are easy to communicate with and respond well to training. We recommend starting early and being consistent to avoid bad habits forming.
Are puppies trained before you pick them up?
Socialization and development are also very important to us. We begin this process at a very young age with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). This begins when the pups are just 3 days old and continues until the pups are 3 weeks old! After ENS we begin our other handling exercises to desensitize pups and make sure they are used to handling. Puppies also experience a number of exposure activities and items. Some of these things include toys (stuffed, rubber, and rope), small steps, hard surface flooring, concrete, gravel, grass/turf, brooms, and a crate.
What about potty training your bernedoodle puppy?
Once it is safe for pups (weather wise) they have 24/7 indoor/outdoor access via a doggy door. This helps tap into the same instinct that crate training uses. Pups start to go outside to go potty to avoid doing so in their "safe space/den" where they sleep. This helps with potty training in their new homes as they are used to all the "wonderful" weather conditions the Midwest has to offer! While we don't begin any formal training with your pups, we do want them to be well adjusted and ready to be loved by you!
Overall Health
One of the biggest advantages of an F1 Mini Bernedoodle is its overall health. Because this smaller hybrid breed benefits from genetic diversity and a more compact size, it is less likely to inherit many congenital health problems. Their smaller frame also significantly lowers the risk of hip and elbow dysplasia compared to larger dogs. All of our adults are DNA health tested to prevent puppies from presenting any of the genetic issues that can be tested for.
